Nov 23, 2013

Well the last day of Fall 2013 soccer is upon us and it looks like we will have a nice sunny but cold day to play soccer.

We are playing today Saturday, Nov 23.

Good luck to everyone and I hope you have a final last day of soccer. Remember you gloves, soft hats and to wear you long sleeve shirts under you uniform shirt.

Nov 19, 2013

One of the last volunteer opportunities for this fall will be on Sat, Nov 23rd. Please see http://wwpsa2.org/Page.asp?n=89070&org=wwpsa2.org for details and to sign up to volunteer for one of these events. This work will entitle you to get your 2013/14 $75 volunteer bond back in the next few weeks. Note: We are planning on processing in early December the volunteer bonds for everyone who has performed volunteer work, including coaches, between August and November.

If you have been unable to volunteer there will be some opportunities over the winter and then many more opportunities in the spring for you to volunteer to earn back your 2013/14 volunteer bond.

The photographers have also informed me that all photographs have now been mailed out to players and everyone should have received them by now. If you have not yet received your photos or have a problem with your photos you should contact them directly at   or toll-free at 1-888-255-5191.

All players will also get a medal from their coaches this coming week to remember the season. Please make sure you get them from your coach. PreK players should have already received their medals, if you are a PreK player and did not get your medal email   and we will let you know how you can pick up your medal.

Saturday Nov 23rd will be the last games for the Fall season - I hope you all had fun playing soccer this fall.

Nov 9, 2013

Its a cold but great day to play soccer. We are playing. Just a reminder that players should wear any long sleeve shirt they want to wear to keep warm under their uniform shirt. Also please no shirts with hoods since they may catch on other players and result in injuries. Soft knitted hats and gloves are fine to help keep them warm. They can also wear long pants but must still wear shin guards and cleats.

We have 3 weeks of soccer left for the K to 12th age group - enjoy these last few weeks.

We also want to let you all know that the West Windsor Farmers Market is still open on Satrudays and will be until Nov 23rd. It is a great place to visit on your way too or from a soccer game to pick up something special. See http://www.westwindsorfarmersmarket.org for details.

See you on the fields in a couple of hours.

Nov 1, 2013

Goal Fest was a great success this year with over 200 players participating. Final official results should be published in the next day or two.

PreK soccer will end tomorrow, Saturday, Nov 2nd. Soccer for the K through 12th grade leagues will continue on until November 23rd. The weather forecast is calling for a great day for tomorrow Nov 2 so it looks like we will have another great day of soccer.

Sept 12, 2013

Get ready we only have 2 days until we start to play soccer on September 14. Please read this entire email. It contains important information about behavior, what to wear, game schedules and cancelation procedures.
Our primary objective is to have fun. Please bear that in mind on the fields and act in a way that makes it fun for everyone present.

Safety is something we never comprise on. I therefore beg you to:
  • Please not drop players off on the side of the roadway or park on the side of the road because doing so obstructs the vision of the players crossing the road and the drivers of other cars which could result in accidents. There is ample parking at all our fields so please park in the designated parking lots and walk your player to the fields. Also please drive slowly and listen to the traffic volunteers.
  • Please do not use or allow players to play on unanchored goals because the can easily fall on the players. Note: the small 5 x 10 foot sharpshooter goals do not need to be anchored but all the larger goals need to be anchored.
  • Please do not bring pets to games because the noise and excitement can result in them becoming agitated, also there are a number of children who are scared of them. Many of the parks also do not allow pets.
Game Schedule - The game schedule is for September 14 is now available at http://wwpsa2.org/Bulletins.asp?org=wwpsa2.org. Select the division (school grade) and then the Team name to see your team schedule. The home (h) team wears white, the second team wears green.  For PreK, K, 1st, 2nd  and Boys 3rd grade (those that have practices and games at the SRI Sarnoff fields on Saturday), the time on the schedule is the time your practice will start. For Girls 3/4, boys 4 and above grade leagues (those that only have games on Saturday) the time on the schedule is the time your game will kick-off i.e. start, you should arrive early so you can find the field and your team can warm up and be prepared to start promptly on time.

Arrive on time – Because the first week is always confusing with everyone trying to find the right fields, please provide extra time to drive to, park and find your field.  Traffic getting into and out of parks will also be heavy so if you think it will take 15 minutes to get to of from the park I suggest doubling it and giving yourself 30 minutes.  Directions to fields and the layout of fields can be found at http://wwpsa2.org/Directions.asp?n=78205&org=wwpsa2.org  Note: for the K through 3rd grade leagues playing at SRI Sarnoff, your field layout is not yet available we will email you (probably late Friday) when it is available.

Referees – For Girls 3/4 and Boys 4th through 12th grade leagues (those with referees), please treat the referees with respect. Remember they are someone’s child and treat them like you would like your child to be treated. Also remember “if the referee says it is a handball it is a handball, it does not matter what you think” and this is true of all their decisions.

Uniforms – Based on the game schedule players wear either a white (home team) or green (away team) shirt for games, it is a good idea to have them bring both shirts to games. They must wear cleats and shin guards. The shin guards must be worn under their socks. No jewelry of any kind is allowed, please removed it beforehandSoccer is a contact sport any jewelry is a hazard to all the players.

Water/Drinks – Players should bring water/drinks to games and practices. It gets hot playing soccer and we don’t want them getting dehydrated.

Fields – We expect all fields to be lined and ready for use. If for some reason a field is not lined please play using cones to mark the fields.

League Rules - The specific rules for all the leagues can be found at http://wwpsa2.org/Page.asp?n=81211&org=wwpsa2.org - click on the appropriate league name on the left hand side. You and the players in your family should be familiar with these rules.

Cancelation Procedure - If weather or other reasons require a program wide cancelation or field closures, the cancelation will be posted on http://www.wwpsa2.org and/or emailed as follows:
  • Saturdays: Cancelations will be posted on the website by 8:00 am
  • Weeknights: Cancelations and field closures will be posted on the website by 3:00 pm on the day of the session
  • Individual Team Practices: Cancelations by the team coach will be communicated directly by the coach to players on the team.
Please check both the http://www.wwpsa2.org website and your email for cancelations before going to the fields.

Lightning Policy - In the event that anyone, including players, referees, coaches, volunteers, trainers, or parents hears thunder or sees lightning, all participants must leave the field and seek shelter for a period of at least 30 minutes after the thunder or lightning was last detected. If, while waiting, another lightning strike is seen or thunder is heard, the 30-minute mandatory waiting period must start again.

Questions - reach out to your league manager, coach or email me and we will try respond timely. Although with over a 1,000 players and all of us having full time paying jobs sometimes get a bit overwhelmed.

Finally my apologies to the Jewish families for starting the season on Yom Kippur. That was an oversight on my part.?

I'm looking forward to a fun and exciting season and hope you are too.

Sept 11, 2013
Thank you everyone for your patience as we have got our Fall Recreational season organized and up and running. As you can imagine with over a 1,000 players it is a huge effort for the volunteers who do all the work and I would like to express my thanks to all the league managers, coaches and other volunteers that make this all happen.

The first games will be this Saturday on September 14.

Player team assignments and game schedules (with exact times and locations) are now available and can be view by following the instructions at https://leagueathletics.com/Page.asp?n=88398&org=wwpsa2.org

Please look for further communications from WWPSA, league managers and coaches in the next few days with additional details.
